DC Bocce Went Tubing
Thanks to everyone who got up bright and early with us on Saturday, August 9th, for the first DC Bocce Tubing Trip in Harpers Ferry. Photos from the day are up on our Flickr site if you want to take a look back or see what you may have missed. We hope everyone enjoyed the event and we look forward to many more next summer!
In Memoriam: Paul Agosta
The DC Bocce Leage would like to take this time to remember our dear friend Paul Agosta, who passed away this past July due to complications related to cancer. Paul was among the original members that joined the DC Bocce League for its inaugural season, and he and his team, iBocce, placed second overall during Summer 2005. Paul was a wonderful, enthusiastic person who loved to play bocce and he routinely praised the League for its dedication to the sport. In his memory, the DC Bocce League is donating $250 to his favorite charity, the Wounded Warrior Project. If you wish to also make a donation in his name please visit their website. To Paul's friends and family, our hearts and thoughts are with you.
Spring 2008 Season Champs
The Spring 2008 season concluded with our End-of-Season Party on 6/18 at Top of the Hill (upstairs of Pour House). Season play ended on Saturday, June 14th, with Martedi Division champion Bocce Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me defeating Mercoledi Division champion Bocce Kings to claim the DC Bocce League Championship. The 46th seeded underdogs from Martedi made a strong run through the Playoffs to continue Martedi's championship dominance. You can view the complete Playoff Bracket for each Division here: TUESDAY (Martedi) WEDNESDAY (Mercoledi)
We would also like to congratulate the Tuesday Final Four teams SE Jerome & The Walleye Pikes, Wild Awesome, and Sasquatch Tribunal, and the Wednesday Final Four teams Luca Bocce & The Sleeping Fishes, Victoria’s NY Style Nightclub, and Driveway Balls, for their long runs in the playoffs. The Final Four teams from both Divisions will be awarded money to donate to the charity of their choice.
General Information
Games will now be played on two nights in Garfield Park, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6:30PM and 7:30PM.
The park is located at the corner of 2nd and F Street

DC Bocce participants will enjoy official t-shirts, League membership cards good for bar specials around Capitol Hill, and post game happy hours held at Pour House located on 319 Pennsylvania Ave.

Bocce Courts
After the 2005 season, the DC Bocce League completed construction on two bocce courts in Garfield Park. The courts, located between the playground and tennis courts, are the first and only public bocce courts in DC. We invite the entire community to enjoy them and become familiar with one of the world’s oldest sports.
