Capitol Hill Tuesday Division
Week 6 Bocce Games + Poppies- Tuesday, May 21
What should have been our last week of the regular season is actually now our second to last chance to improve (or worsen) your spot in the standings before playoffs (thanks a lot, rain week!) Check out the schedule here.
In honor of the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, we'll also be "selling" poppies this week to benefit the Noble Argus Foundation. The founders of this organization live in the Capitol Hill area, and the Noble Argus Foundation provides financial assistance for the families of the Special Operations Community (groups like Seal Team 6). The Special Operations Community is continuously placed in harm’s way to protect our freedom, enduring deployments of unpredictable lengths and missions that are both physically and mentally taxing. Noble Argus was established with one objective in mind: To help them focus on the mission by allowing us to focus on their families. Help us help them, and please bring cash to your games this weekend to donate! Thank you!
Flair Week Winners!
Thanks to those teams who dared to flair!! We 'spied' the BoccePets channeling their inner "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" which earned them top prize and 4 tickets to the 6/7 Nationals v. Twins game (and free food & beer at the game!) The Daggerballs held their opponents captive on the courts as a pirate gang that rivaled any Johnny Depp Captain Sparrow attempts, earning them second prize and $50 to Good Stuff Eatery. We were spooked into giving the one eyed, one horned flying purple people eaters (aka Gods Holy Rollers) third prize and $50 to Hawk 'n' Dove.
Help our top three teams win even more by voting in the league wide bocce Flair Week Faceoff! The pictures of the top three flair week winners in each division will be placed in an album on DC Bocce's fanpage, and the team whose photo that earns the most "like" will win $300 to a restaurant of their choosing. Stay tuned!
And a big thank you to those teams that dressed up, but didn't place. We still appreciate your efforts, Boccington Nationals, Bocced Surgery, Oxford North, and The bocce behind the bocce behind the bocce. There's always next season!
Dock Bar Crawl to Kent Island- Saturday, June 1
The infamous Dock Bar Crawl to Kent Island is Saturday, 6/1. Registration will be open next week, and the trip fee includes r/t transportation to the hidden oasis that is Kent Island, beer specials, and good times. Check out the pictures from last year's trip here!
End of Season Party!
Save the date! Saturday, June 15th, we will be having our end of season party. We will be playing our last rounds of playoffs and will have free kegs, live music, and tons of bocce for charity. The party will be at Canal Park. This promises to be our best party yet!
NEW Sponsor Bar - Hawk 'n' Dove!
Capitol Hill icon, Hawk n Dove has re-opened on Pennsylvania Avenue with a brand new look, an exciting menu and now Tuesday bocce antics! We'll be hob-nobbing with the Hill crowd in high style this season! Peroni and Blue Moon will be available at special DC Bocce prices on game nights.
Peroni Ticket Contest- Season and Year long!
Every time you buy a pitcher of Blue Moon and Peroni, be sure to get a ticket and write your team name on it. These tickets will be used for the weekly raffles. The more pitchers you buy, the better your chances! At the end of season, we will count up all of the tickets. The four teams from the league (all divisions) that have the most tickets will win a limo bus trip to Virginia wine country (date TBD). Even better, there is a new year long drinking contest through December in which the team that drinks the most cumulative pitchers of Blue Moon and Peroni will win an ultimate grand prize (TBD) valued at $2K. Teams must have a minimum of 50 tickets per season to qualify. Drink up!
Play for glory and charity donations!
What do you get for being a bocce champion this season?
Bragging rights, trophies to display, and the ability to donate to a charity of your choosing (1st place team donates $1,000 and 2nd place team donates $500). Good luck to all teams!

Questions?
Feel free to contact your league manager, Vanessa, with any questions.
Game Location and Directions
Garfield Park (2nd and F Streets, SE)
Via Metro: Take the Orange/Blue Line to the Capitol South Metro stop. Walk south on 1st Street, SE towards Tortilla Coast and Bullfeathers for 3 blocks and you will dead end into the park. Visit www.wmata.com for more information.
Driving: Click Here. And please be aware of parking regulations in the area, often pertaining to Nationals Stadium.
Remember to take any trash that you bring into the park back out again. The trash bins get full by the day of our games so please throw your trash away in a bin outside of the park. And let's do our part to help the environment by taking any recyclable materials to the Pour House for deposit after your games.
A note about the trash: Thank you to all of you that place your trash and empty beverages in our extra black trash bags that we tie to the cans. Please please follow the lead of those people and only use the black trash bags we supply to dispose of your items. We want to keep the trash in check so that the Garfield Park Association continues to love our league and let us keep playing there.
Bocce Courts
In 2005, the DC Bocce League funded and constructed two bocce courts in Garfield Park on Capitol Hill. The courts, located between the playground and tennis courts, are the first and only public bocce courts in DC. We invite the entire community to enjoy them and become familiar with one of the world’s oldest sports.
Tag It!
This season, we are posting all league photos to Facebook albums, which allows for interactive commenting and now TAGGING! Anyone in the league has the ability to tag friends, teammates, etc., so please check out our photos from this season and let the Facebook connecting begin!
Charity
At the end of each season, winning teams from each division are awarded a cash prize to donate to a charity of their choice. We have donated to many local, national and international charities. We are also happy to participate in special charity events throughout the year. If you have any ideas feel free to contact us mail@dcbocce.com
